How does lightning form?
When there is instability and humidity in the air, thunderstorms form. This phenomenon is linked to one type of cloud in particular: cumulonimbus. Even a small thunderstorm can lead to rain and lightning strikes.

Installation of lightning protection on a bell tower

Capture device

It intercepts a direct lightning strike on the structure. An ESE generates an upward leader that captures the lightning bolt.
Conducting cable

It conveys the lightning current safely into the ground (usually two). In the lower part, inspection joints, protective sleeves and inspection covers prevent damage.
Surge Arrester

It protects electrical equipment from high transitory surges caused by lightning.
